EL PASO, Texas - El Paso's newest music star took the stage during the American Music Awards, but walked away empty-handed.
Khalid appeared with Imagine Dragons to sing their hit song "Thunder." The group ended up winning Best Pop Rock Duo or Group.
Khalid was nominated for Favorite Song in the Soul and R&B category but lost to Bruno Mars.
But his loss didn't get him down, or at least it didn't appear to on social media. Khalid tweeted excitedly about his performance with Imagine Dragons and meeting actress Lea Michele of Glee fame.
In other awards show news, Selena Gomez performed live her hit "Wolves" for the first time since her kidney transplant surgery.
Christina Aguilera paid tribute to Whitney Houston, who won 21 AMAs.
Pink's outdoor hotel climb and dance wowed the crowd.
Diana Ross received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
And the big winner of the night was Bruno Mars, who took home seven awards, including Artist of the Year.
