El Paso, TX - The problems seem to go from bad to worse for the UTEP Miners.
It's no longer that they can't find a way to win a game, but apparently they can't score any points.
Saturday night in Hattiesburg, Mississippi was the worst performance yet for the Miners.
The Miners were shutout by the Southern Miss Golden Eagles by a final of 24-0.
UTEP drops to 0-7 on the season.
The UTEP defense kept the Miners in the game only down 14-0 at halftime.
But if you can't score any points, it doesn't matter.
The struggles at the quarterback position was evident once again.
Zach Greenlee started the game for UTEP and threw for just 63 yards.
He was benched in the second half for Ryan Metz, but Metz didn't fare any better.
Metz threw for 67 yards and one interception.
Southern Miss quarterback Keon Howard threw for 220 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.
Howard got some help from his running back, Ito Smith.
Smith rushed for 120 yards and put up 2 touchdowns for the Golden Eagles.
UTEP will now take its bye week before resuming Conference USA play at home against UT-San Antonio.
