The New Mexico State football team was selected to finish 10th in the 2017 Sun Belt Preseason Poll.
The preseason poll was voted on by each member institution's head coach, which saw NM State tally 41 points - including one first-place vote, which came from NMSU head coach Doug Martin.
The 41 points put the Aggies ahead of Texas State (31 points) and incoming member Coastal Carolina (26 points).
New Mexico State concluded the 2016 campaign 3-9 overall and 2-6 in Sun Belt Conference play.
The Aggies will no longer compete in the Sun Belt after the 2017 season is over.
The 2017 edition of the Aggies will have nine starters return on offense and 10 players on defense, including All-American running back Larry Rose III and All-SBC quarterback Tyler Rogers from the offensive end and All-SBC defensive back Jaden Wright from the defensive side of the ball.
With Sun Belt Football Media Days less than a week away, Rose III and Wright will give Aggie fans an inside look starting Sunday, July 23, on social media as they make their way towards New Orleans with head coach Doug Martin.
New Mexico State opens the 2017 campaign on the road with an 8:30 p.m. (MT) kickoff against Arizona State (Aug. 31) on the Pac-12 Network.
Be sure to catch the Aggies in their home-opener and SBC-opener against Troy on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m. Single-game tickets and season-tickets for Aggie football can be purchased at the Pan American ticket office or by phone at 575-646-1420.
