Charlotte Hornets forward Noah Vonleh was recovering from surgery Tuesday in Charlotte, North Carolina, to repair a sports hernia that he suffered during a recent workout.
Recovery time is projected at six to eight weeks from the surgery, which was performed by Dr. B. Todd Henneford.
Vonleh, the ninth overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, won the Big Ten freshman of the year award and was third-team All-Big Ten in 2014 during his only season at Indiana. He averaged 11.3 points and 1.4 blocked shots and led the conference with 9.0 rebounds per game.
With training camp about a month from starting and the first regular-season game about two months away, Vonleh is expected to be able to return without missing much time.
