Kevin Harvick and the No. 4 Chevrolet team was penalized for beginning Sunday's Sprint Cup race at Watkins Glen International with "unapproved weight" in his car.

Crew chief Rodney Childers drew a fine of $25,000, and NASCAR said the offense is classified as a P3 under the new system for policing drivers and crew chiefs.

A P3 penalty affords NASCAR the option of docking 15 driver/owner points, fining between $20,000-$50,000 and suspending team members.
