Vanderbilt 38, Austin Peay 3: Austyn Carta-Samuels rushed for two scores and threw for another as the host Commodores hammered the Governors in a non-conference game.Vanderbilt (1-1) bounced back from a heartbreaking loss to Ole Miss in last week's opener to dominate their FCS foe. The Commodores scored all five of their touchdowns in the second quarter and held the Governors (0-2) without a first down in the first half to take a 38-0 lead into the break.Austin Peay, which was shut out by Tennessee last week, finally got on the scoreboard on a 20-yard field goal by Walter Spears in the third quarter. But the Governors finished with just 139 total yards and were overmatched against their second straight SEC opponent as they were forced to punt 10 times in the contest.Vanderbilt started slowly, managing just a 25-yard field goal by Casey Spear in the first quarter. But the Commodores erupted in the second quarter, getting a 6-yard scoring run by Brian Kimbrow before Carta-Samuels took over.Both Carta-Samuels and Jerron Seymour capped drives with 1-yard runs to give Vandy a 24-0 lead. Carta-Samuels, who finished 14-for-22 passing for 223 yards, then connected with Jordan Matthews on a 39-yard touchdown pass before the quarterback capped Vandy's scoring bulldozing his way for an 8-yard touchdown following an Austin Peay fumble late in the first half.Game notebook: Austin Peay gained 25 yards on 18 plays in the first half.
