Pirates give manager Hurdle contract extension

The Pittsburgh Pirates extended manager Clint Hurdle's contract through 2014 with a 2015 option, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported Monday.
The Pirates finished 79-83 last year, which is their best record since 1997. Hurdle is 151-173 in two seasons with Pittsburgh.
Hurdle, 55, has a career record of 534-625, including managing the Colorado Rockies to the National League pennant in 2007.
