The Pacers, who have the best record in the NBA at 20-3, expect to have guard Danny Granger back for Friday's game against Houston.
Granger has not played yet this season because of a calf injury.
The Pacers were reluctant to provide a timeline for Granger's return until Sunday.
"I was waiting for the Danny Granger [question]," Pacers coach Frank Vogel said, according to Pacers.com. "I finally have news on Danny Granger. We're going to target next Friday for a hopeful return to see how this week of practice goes."
It will be interesting to see how Granger fits into the Pacers' rotation since the team has been so successful without him.
Granger is scheduled to earn $14 million this season, but will be an unrestricted free agent this summer. That may cause the Pacers to consider trading him.
Granger was selected to play in the 2009 NBA All-Star game. He played in just five games last season, but averaged 18.7 points in 2011-2012 after scoring better than 20 points a game in each of the three seasons before that.
