EL PASO, Texas -

With the wintry weather sweeping through the Borderland Saturday, the cold temps and possible snow in the forecast could are make for undesirable conditions for just about anyone.

ABC-7's Jerry Najera reports on few reminders for us.

Road conditions may become unsafe overnight. Take extra caution if you run into slippery or even icy roads. You'll want watch for ice on bridges.

ABC-7 spoke to Texas Department of Transportation earlier and they tell us road crews have been on stand-by since Thursday. They are currently monitoring weather conditions and, if needed, TXDOT is ready to sends crews out starting at 9 Saturday night.

Don't forget to insulate those exposed pipes you may have at your home. ABC-7 crews just came from a hardware store a little while ago and there are already people buying that pipe insulation.

Don't forget pets bring them inside and right now is a good time to check on elderly relatives. Make sure they have heat or plenty of blankets to help them stay warm during these freezing temperatures we'll be seeing overnight.
