HOUSTON (CNN) - A group of people in Houston formed a human chain to rescue an elderly man trapped in high water.
It happened on I-10 as floodwaters began to carry the man's vehicle away.
Maritza Castillo says her husband Juan was one of more than a dozen people who jumped in the water to help.
Castillo said the victim was hospitalized and later reunited with his son.
The scene is one of many acts of heroism being reported - not just by first responders - but also by ordinary civilians putting themselves in harms way, without equipment or training, to help neighbors and strangers.
