Police: 18 year-old man shot, killed at westside Park

Family says it was a recent high school graduate

EL PASO, Texas -

The El Paso Police Department Crimes Against Persons unit (CAP) responded to a "shot fired" call on Rio Flor Street, across from Palo Verde park.

The preliminary investigation revealed officers found an 18-year-old male with gunshot wounds. They said he died at the scene. 

Homicide detectives were called to the scene to investigate what happened. The victim's family was also on the scene. They would not release the man's name, but did say he was a recent high school graduate. 

The investigation is still on-going.
