1980: Basketball player Sue Bird, one of nine women to win an Olympic Gold Medal, an NCAA Championship, and a WNBA Championship, is born in Syosset, N.Y. Bird won NCAA titles with the University of Connecticut in 2000 and 2002 and was chosen first overall in the 2002 WNBA Draft by the Seattle Storm. She won WNBA titles with the Storm in 2004 and 2010 and won Olympic gold medals as part of Team USA in 2004, 2008 and 2012.
