LCPD: Man suspected in social media threat targeting elementary school in custody

The suspect investigators believe is responsible for Friday's social media threat targeting Conlee Elementary School is in custody, Las Cruces Police said on its Facebook page.

The "shelter-in-place" at all district schools and lockdown at Conlee has been lifted, police said.

The 23-year-old man was taken into custody near the 300 block of Wyatt Drive.

Police said no charges have been filed, but the investigation continues and charges are expected.

Las Cruces Police learned of the threat shortly after noon on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017.

Police said a separate and unrelated shots-fired call was reported at around 1 p.m. near the intersection of Idaho Avenue and Lees Drive.

That call prompted police to place Lynn Middle School on lockdown. No injuries were reported in that incident and the victim declined to file charges, police said.
