Las Cruces man pleads guilty to lesser charge after killing man with tire iron

A Las Cruces man pleaded guilty to killing another with a tire iron, according to the Las Cruces Sun-News.
Vernon Clark took a plea agreement with prosecutors last week. He pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter instad of second-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. 
According to ABC-7 records, Dona Ana County authorities said Clark had a fight with Jose Lopez Perez over a woman last year. That's when Clark threw a tire iron at the head of Perez, killing him. 
Clark's plea agreement indicates that he could face up to 14 years in prison. 
He's scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 26.
