A Fort Bliss AH-64 Apache helicopter made a precautionary landing near the Anthony Gap on Highway 404 at about 9 p.m. Monday after pilots observed an in-flight warning light during a training flight.
The pilots wre able to land the helicopter without injuring themselves or damaging the helicopter.
The pilots determined they could not figure out what was wrong and fix it because of the darkness.
Aviation maintenance personnel arrived early Tuesday morning to assess the
situation and begin repairs on the aircraft.
The twin-engine attack helicopter is routinely used in support of combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
