Some Socorro residents were evacuated after a declaration of disaster was signed after heavy rains flooded the area Tuesday morning.
Acting mayor Rene Rodriguez signed the declaration that will last seven days. The most affected area is Coker Road.
First responders evacuated at least 11 people from three homes, according to Jose Landeros, who works for El Paso County Commissioner Vincent Perez.

With the state of disaster declaration, Socorro officials will be able to use funds from a city savings account to pay for evacuation expenses.
A Socorro police officer on the scene says he saw mounds of mud inside the homes.
Authorities evacuated people to the Rio Vista Community Center.
The Red Cross will be helping them.
