EL PASO, Texas - The district attorney's office has dismissed the case against an El Paso-area educator accused of having an improper relationship with a student.
In January 2017, 31-year-old Kenneth Evans was booked into the county jail on a half a million dollar bond after he was arrested at his home on the 3200 block of Sunset Point.
Evans was charged one count of Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student.
At the time, the Fabens Independent School District website listed Evans as an educator at Fabens High School. The district confirmed Tuesday Evans is no longer an employee.
A complaint affidavit obtained by ABC-7 contained very little information on the case, merely stating Evans allegedly had a relationship with a 16-year-old student in 2015. The document stated Evans was a wrestling coach in addition to his teaching duties at the school.
ABC-7 obtained a court document in which the district attorney's office filed a motion to dismiss the charge. A judge signed off on the document.
The El Paso Times cites officials who said the charges were dropped because the victim decided not to come forward.
