EL PASO, Texas -

El Paso City Council on Tuesday approved increasing the fee for parking meters.

The airport’s capital improvement plan also was approved.

City Council is now talking about the tax rate.

City Council also has been discussing the actual budget, including possible fee hikes and/or service reductions.

City Rep. Cortney Niland objected to trimming the police vehicle maintenance budget and the parks budget.

Mayor Oscar Leeser threatened to veto any fee increase that hasn’t been adequately discussed and explored.

City Council then went into executive session to continue the discussion.
