MEMPHIS, Tenn. -

The El Paso Chihuahuas fell short Tuesday night in the quest to win the Gildan Triple-A National Championship game.

Chihuahuas lost 3-1 to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in Memphis.

The national championship is decided in a single game.

The team tweeted after the game, stating, "THANK YOU to the greatest fans in MiLB! We couldn't have done this w/o your support! See you in 2017!".

The RailRiders are the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees.

The Pacific Coast League Champions knocked off the Oklahoma City Dodgers Saturday to advance to the championship.
