EL PASO, Texas - Local business owner Daniel Longoria has withdrawn his name from consideration for the El Paso ISD Board seat vacated by former Board President Dori Fenenbock.
"My wife and I have decided that our plans to expand our business and our family responsibilities will not allow me the time to serve as a trustee," said Longoria in an email to ABC-7.
Fenenbock, running in the Democratic primary for the congressional seat vacated by Congressman Beto O'Rourke, resigned on August, 25, 2017. Fenenbock represented District 7, which makes up the Coronado feeder pattern area. Her term expires in May 2019.
The three remaining candidates are Daniel Call, an insurance agent and vice president of the Putnam Elementary PTA; Michael Hicks, who is the executive director of a child care business; and Laura Michelle Loweree Martinez, an area vice president for the Council of PTAs for the Coronado-Franklin area.
Hicks previously served on the EPISD board in between 1992 and 1994, his application states.
In his application, Call said his background as a business owner and insurance agent will bring more accountability. Call said he believes in the power of the public education system to transform the lives of the underprivileged.
Hicks also believes his background as a small business owner will help him guide the district. In his application, Hicks states he started with a single day care center, and despite struggling, now has four thriving day care locations.
Loweree Martinez said she wants to focus on the bond projects recently approved by voters. Her goal is to make sure district taxpayers and parents are involved in the process.

It will be held from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Coronado High School, located at 100 Champions Place in West El Paso.
