Jam Theatricals and El Paso Live announced the West Texas premiere of Disney’s "The Lion King" at the Plaza Theatre during the Broadway in El Paso 2017-18 season.
The North American touring productions of "The Lion King" have been seen by more than 17 million theatergoers and grossed over $1.2 billion to date. Having already played more than 70 cities across North America, the Lion King now makes its El Paso premiere at the Plaza Theatre.
"When The Plaza Theatre was restored and reopened ten years ago, 'The Lion King' was one of the shows that El Pasoans were asking for," said to Bryan Crowe, general manager of El Paso Live.
Broadway in El Paso series has welcomed shows such as "Wicked," "The Book of Mormon," "Jersey Boys" and this year’s "The Phantom of the Opera." Now the city can welcome Simba, Pumbaa and Timon to El Paso.
Performance dates and times will be announced at a later time.
