Baby Jackson Farrey Death: Father on suicide watch; mother asks about belongings in hearing

Jeffrey Farrey Assigned Public Defender; Jenna Farrey Waives Extradiction Hearing In Mich.

EL PASO, Texas - Army Spc. Jeffrey Farrey, the father of 5-month-old Jackson Farrey, is on suicide watch at the El Paso County Jail, according to court documents.

Jeffrey was extradited to El Paso from Michigan on Wednesday and charged with injury to a child by omission. His bond is set at $1.5 million.

Thursday he was assigned a public defender, according to court documents.

The Farrey family, including Jeffrey, his wife Jenna, 18-month-old Blake, and Jackson, went missing Friday. All but Jackson were found on Sunday at a hotel in Escanaba, Mich.

Law enforcement found a body on Wednesday near Orogrande, N.M. that they believe to be Jackson.

Jackson's mother, Jenna Farrey, waived her extradition hearing during a court proceeding on Wednesday in Escanaba, Mich. Jenna was being held in Delta County Jail in Michigan on a charge of being a fugitive of justice for violating her probation on a 2012 conviction for abandoning a child with intent to return. Her five-year probation sentence did not allow her to leave the state.

Jenna is expected to be extradited to El Paso this week.

The Escanaba Daily Press reported that Jenna questioned her court-appointed attorney, Don LeMire, about what's going to happen with her car and her personal belongings.

Escanaba Daily Press reporter Jenny Lancour told ABC-7 that Jenna was calm during the preceding and did not show emotion.
