EL PASO, Texas -

The "Obamacare" website, Healthcare.gov has been plagued with problems since its Oct. 1 rollout.  ABC-7 researched the plans offered in the Borderland, and found three insurers offer health insurance plans in El Paso County.  It is possible to bypass the government website and buy an insurance policy directly from an insurer.  If you think you might qualify for a government subsidy, however, that can only be arranged at Healthcare.gov.

To get a good idea if you'll qualify for a subsidy, you can use this calculator created by the Kaiser Family Foundation:

Unlike Texas, New Mexico has created its own health insurance exchange.  You can find that here.
