1968 - Al-Fatah joins the PLO.
February 1969 - Elected chairman of the executive committee of the PLO.
September, 1970 - Known as "Black September." King Hussein of Jordan forcibly expels the PLO from the country. The organization resettles in Lebanon. Allegedly, Hussein orchestrates an assassination attempt on Arafat.
