The El Paso County Sheriff's Office identified the man that died Saturday morning in San Elizario after driving his vehicle into a tree.
The man was 20-year-old Jose Arturo Escarsega Martinez.
According to officials, around 4:50 a.m. deputies were sent to the 12900 block of Alarcon Road.
Officials found Martinez in a gray 1999 Chrysler. He showed no signs of life.
The initial investigation indicated Martinez was approaching a left curve and lost control, officials said. Officials believe he over-corrected for the curve, and pulled into the center roadway. Then, he over-corrected again and collided with a tree, the sheriff's office said.
It appears the Chrysler passed a blue truck at a high rate of speed before losing control, officials said.
Special traffic investigators were called to the scene. Martinez was wearing a seat belt.
The sheriff's office also said speed and alcohol have not been ruled out as causes.
