EL PASO, Texas -

An El Paso police spokesman confirmed that the eastbound lanes of I-10 were shutdown Thursday night following an officer being struck.

According to Det. Michael Baranyay, the officer was transported to an area hospital.  The injuries are not expected to be life threatening.

ABC-7 first learned that the I-10 eastbound lanes were closed around 6 p.m. 

The Texas Department of Transportation announced via email that the closure had been lifted shortly after 10 p.m.
