A woman is recovering from a gunshot wound after police say her husband shot at her, and then turned the gun on himself.
It all happened on the 10,900 block of Ernie Banks Dr., early Friday morning.
It was an argument between a elderly husband and wife that took a tragic turn. Residents tell ABC-7 they were shocked to find a body laying in front of their neighbor's home.
"When I first moved here, he came over and welcomed me to the neighborhood," said Paul Trejo about 86-year-old Raul Pinion. "He seemed like a very nice guy."
Trejo tells ABC-7 he woke up to find Pinion's body out by the front of the garage.
Police tell ABC-7 that at about 5 a.m., Pinion allegedly pulled out a rifle and shot his wife, 69-year-old-Lille Pinion in the upper body.
Though she was shot and bleeding, she managed to get away and call for help. Investigators say that's when Raul turned the gun on himself and pulled the trigger. When police arrived on the scene, they reportedly found Raul dead with a gun shot wound to the head.
"I was surprised to hear that (Raul was dead)," said Trejo.
First responders found Lille and rushed her to University Medical Center in critical condition. It was a scene Trejo would have never imagined.
"Nothing's ever happened over there" he said. "(The Pinions) just this past weekend had a party for one of their grandkids and everybody seemed (like) they were doing fine."
Several neighbors in the area said they're shocked and saddened by the shooting between the elderly couple.
"They were just a very normal family," saidTrejo.
