Syria-Civil-War (will update)

The death toll is 130 in Syria Friday as the fighting between government forces and rebels uproots civilians and causes humanitarian nightmares. Of the 130 people reported killed in fighting in flashpoint cities across the country, at least 40 died in Damascus and its suburbs, said the Local Coordination Committees of Syria, another opposition group. Fifteen children were among the dead, it said. Many deaths also occurred in Aleppo and Deir Ezzor.

Bahrain-Protests

A protest in solidarity with 13 people convicted of plotting to overthrow the government in Bahrain led to arrests in the capital Friday, state media said. Six protesters were accused of participating in rioting and sabotage Friday, according to the Bahrain News Agency.

Bermuda-Hurricane-Leslie (monitoring)

Hurricane Leslie lost power as it idled over the ocean Friday, weakening into a tropical storm that appeared likely to miss Bermuda. Forecasters warned that large waves and dangerous rip currents would still pose a threat to coastal areas, and near-tropical-storm-force winds would lash the island Sunday.
