1630: Popcorn is introduced to the English colonists in Plymouth, Mass., by Quadequina of the Wampanoag tribe, who brought it in deerskin bags as his contribution at their first Thanksgiving dinner. Native Americans were growing popcorn for more than a thousand years before the arrival of European explorers.
