Police: Veterinarian fatally shoots neighbor's dog

Woman threatened dog for barking, police say

A Louisiana veterinarian is facing charges in the fatal shooting of her neighbor's dog, according to police.

Police said Kelly Folse, 35, allegedly shot a family's dog after repeatedly threatening the pet and complaining about its barking, WDSU reported. The dog, named Bruizer, died the next day.

The vet office where she worked treated the dog and reported the incident Wednesday, police said.

Detectives found narcotics in Folse's home, WDSU reported. Officials said they believe the narcotics were obtained through prescriptions for her own pets.

Folse was taken to Jefferson Parish Correctional Center, WDSU reported. She is facing charges of aggravated cruelty to animals and illegal discharge of a firearm, as well as drug-related charges.
