Jaime O Perez El Paso Politician dies

EL PASO, Texas - Jaime O. Perez, a longtime politician in El Paso, died Monday evening, said former El Paso City Representative Eddie Holguin.

Holguin told ABC-7 Perez died at 6:26 p.m., following a stroke he had the past Thursday.

Perez had previously been the Chief of Staff for the El Paso County Judge Anthony Cobos.

Perez had run for office several times, his most recent being in May of 2017, when he ran for Mayor of El Paso as a Libertarian candidate. He was defeated in the general election by Mayor Dee Margo.

Before that, he challenged current Congressman Beto O Rourke for his District 16 seat in the House of Representatives in both 2014 and 2016.
