EL PASO, Texas -- An ABC-7 viewer wants to know why his new mail box location has halted his mail service.
All along a Northeast El Paso neighborhood, mailboxes are mounted on the walls of homes next to the front door, all except one.
"We bought this house and the mailbox has always been right here," said Jimmy Buck.
It's in the middle of the yard.
But after 16 years, "Through time and with the kids running through the yard, my grandkids, it finally fell over."
So Buck says he bought a new one, but soon afterwards, stopped receiving his mail. "They held it for two days because they wouldn't deliver it when I put it on the house." Buck, a disabled veteran, says he needs his mail delivered.
"I get my medication when I get it, through the VA for my refills. It is mailed to me...it comes to my house through the mailbox," said Buck.
The Buck family tells ABC-7 they actually had to move the mailbox because the mail carrier refused to walk six steps. "If they have to take a few extra steps to get to a mailbox, it's like it's an inconvenience to them."
It's not like the mail carrier had to go through a fence, like with Buck's next door neighbor or a porch, like at another neighbor's house. "You know, being a retired military vet, I figure I've done my time. These postal men can't do these few extra steps, then why are they even doing the job?" said Buck.
The U.S. Postal Service sent us this statement: "This matter has been brought to the attention of the El Paso postmaster and is currently under review. Once we have concluded our investigation, we will advise our customer as to our decision."
"I'd like to put my mailbox back on the wall, so I don't have to worry about it ever falling off again," said Buck.
Buck says he has also written Congressman Silvestre Reyes complaining about his postal carrier service.
