EL PASO, Texas -- A man is recovering at the hospital after a morning accident at the base of the Franklin Mountains.
It happened around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in West El Paso near the Redd Road bike trails. El Paso Fire Department officials said a 51-year-old man fell off a mountain bike and landed on a patch of rocks.
Because of where it happened, it took nearly two hours to get the man the medical help he needed.
"First, he was appreciative and conscious. And he was able to give us the extent of his injuries," said Fire Department Battalion Chief Robert Arvizu.
Officials said the man appears to have some fractured ribs. The man was riding with two other people who called for help after the incident.
