EL PASO, Texas -- The shots are in, 1,000 of them. El Paso ISD school officials hope this round of H1N1 vaccines will help calm the worries of some of their employees. The 1,000 vaccines were offered on a first come, first served basis to the more than 8,000 district employees and their dependents listed under their insurance.

JoAnne Berry, a high school teacher, says she can now breath a sigh of relief. "I just want to protect myself, and I feel that getting this shot is going to protect me," said Berry as she waited in line for her vaccine.

The doses came in both nasal mist and shot form. School officials say they've also ordered 64,000 extra vaccines strictly for students. That load is expected in December.

EPISD administrators say they're taking the pro-active measure to avoid any further risks associated with the H1N1 virus.
