El Paso, TX - U.S. 54 North was closed at Stan Roberts for hours Tuesday morning because of a collision that happened at about 4:45am.
El Paso police say that the driver of an 18-wheeler pulled into the path of a military bus headed north on U.S. 54. The collision sent the bus spinning out of control.
The driver of the bus was ejected, but one of 20 soldiers on board managed to grab the wheel and bring the bus to a stop.
The bus driver and three soldiers were injured. The bus driver was admitted to William Beaumont Army Medical Center for treatment but hospital officials would not comment on the driver's condition. Another soldier is also being treated at Beaumont.
Two other soldiers were treated and released, hospital officials said.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was not hurt.

El Paso police say the driver of the 18-wheeler admits to sleeping in his truck while parked on Stan Roberts. When the driver woke up, he realized he had overslept. That's when the man drove into traffic on U.S. 54. That driver was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
The military bus was heading to McGregor Range at the time of the crash.
