SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico's historic preservation officer has been selected to become the executive director of the United States Committee for the International Council on Monuments and Sites.
The state Department of Cultural Affairs says Katherine Slick was selected from a nationwide pool of candidates.
She will begin her new job after completing her duties as director of the state Historic Preservation Division at the end of June.
During her 6-year tenure, Slick helped raised the profile of the division and brought tribal collaboration to the forefront of historic preservation.
Slick is nationally recognized in the preservation field. She previously worked as an adviser for the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
