PECOS, TX -- Officials at the Reeves County Detention Facility confirm a riot has broken out at the prison facility.

"We do not have anything in control," said a detention officer from the facility. "Everything is out of control." The detention officer said a medical dispute between inmates and staff might have sparked the riot.

According to officials, several fires and fights have broken out throughout the jail grounds. One prisoner was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance.

Pecos is about 200 miles east of El Paso.
