El PASO, Texas - The El Paso Police Department's Gang Unit arrested six people, some wanted on outstanding warrants, this past weekend.
Police officials said the Gang Unit has been actively pursuing wanted persons and "saturating various parts of the city with uniformed patrols."
Arrested: Alexander Boershinger, 32
Location: 4700 Blossom
Gang officers conducted a routine traffic stop for a violation that occurred at Kenworthy and Trans Mountain.
Alexander Boershinger, the driver, was allegedly possession of Marijuana. An investigation revealed Boershinger had 24 outstanding Traffic Warrant and a warrant for Failure to Appear on a forgery charge. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail without bond.
Arrested: George Halvorsen, 31
Location: 10400 Hermes Dr.
Gang officers pulled George Halverson over because he was speeding when he allegedly ran a stop sign.
An investigation revealed tHalverson was in possession of 242.56 grams of methamphetamine, police said.
Halverson was charged with "Manufacture Delivery of Controlled Substance (methamphetamine) Over 200 grams and under 400 grams." His bond was set at $50,000.
Arrested: Richard Tyler, 38
Location: 5300 Sun Valley
Police said Tyler was pulled over because the vehicle he was driving had an obstructed license plate and no license plate light.
During the traffic stop, Tyler allegedly provided officers with a false name and further investigation revealed Tyler had an outstanding criminal warrant for parole violation.
He was charged with Failure to Identify and Fugitive Intent to Provide False Information.
Arrested: Robert Young, 34
Location: Sharp & Sun Valley
Police say Gang Unit officers stopped the driver of a 2002 Nissan Maxima because the vehicle had a fictitious license plate.
The driver, identified as Robert Young, had an outstanding criminal warrant and five outstanding traffic warrants, police said.
Arrested: Angel Schlemm, 19
Location: Dyer & Fred Wilson
Gang officers stopped 19-year old Angel Schlemm because the vehicle he was driving had expired registration.
A warrants check revealed Schlemm had 21 outstanding traffic warrants. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail on the outstanding warrants.
Arrested: Rodrigo Flores, 32
Location: 4430 Titanic
Gang Unit officers met with Rodrigo Flores at the Titanic Ballroom.
Officers verified Flores had an outstanding warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Jail on a $20,000.
Police did not say if Flores met with the officers voluntarily.
