UPDATE: Montana still closed in between Hueco Tanks and Hudspeth

Fiery crash shuts down Montana Ave for hours

EL PASO, Texas - Montana is closed between Hueco Tanks and Hudspeth County Frida because the fire that engulfed a tractor trailer is still burning, a sheriff's office spokeswoman said.

A tractor trailer transporting propane gas struck a guardrail and rolled on its side around 3 p.m. Thursday on the 19100 block of Montana in Far East El Paso County.

The wreck sparked a fire and the 29-year-old truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital. The driver has been released from the hospital.

Montana will be closed at the site of the wreck, in both directions until further notice, the sheriff's office said.

Residents in nearby neighborhoods are the only ones authorities are allowing to move in and out of the area.

Other driver can take I-10 East, then exit Sierra Blanca Highway 1111. That road will take you to Highway 6180 beyond the site of the wreck, the sheriff's office said.
