EL PASO, Texas - The man rescued from a cave in the Franklin Mountains was identified Monday. Reyes Jaramillo Hernandez, 67, was found badly burned in a cave at the bottom of a cliff, just off Transmountain road Sunday afternoon.

According to the El Paso Sheriff's Office, Hernandez's brother called police after he found Hernandez's burned out car on the side of Transmountain Road.

When police got to the scene, they found the burned vehicle, but did there was no sign of Hernandez. They found him at the bottom of a nearby cliff, about 100 feet from his vehicle.

Hernandez suffered 3rd degree burns to his hands and legs, and was rushed to the University Medical Burn Center in Lubbock, Texas. As of Monday afternoon he remained in critical condition.

Investigators are trying to figure out how the car caught on fire, if Hernandez was alone, and how he ended up in a cave.
