SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to attend the funeral tomorrow for former New Mexico Gov. Bruce King. King's two sons, Gary and Bill King, greeted people today as they paid their respects to the three-term Democratic governor at the Statehouse. King died last week at age 85.
LAS CRCUES, N.M. (AP) - A Mesilla couple who had about 100 cats on their property, as well as horses, goats and other animals is pleading no contest to animal cruelty charges. Lester Boyse and Carol Boyse were charged after authorities found the animals while responding to a report of a dead horse on their property. They entered their pleas in early November.
FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - A 9-year-old girl injured in a trailer fire in Farmington earlier this week has died. Desirea Smith died Wednesday at an Albuquerque hospital. Her father and a 33-year-old woman were also killed in the fire. Authorities say an electrical malfunction caused Tuesday's blaze.
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Gov. Bill Richardson has cut state contributions to two Navajo Nation projects in San Juan County to help close New Mexico's $650 million budget shortfall. The New Mexico Association of Counties said the axed projects include a development of waste water treatment in Beclabito and improvement for a damaged road in Naschitti.
