FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) - Here's an update on the Fort Hood shootings, in which 13 people died and more than two dozen were hurt.
The suspected gunman -- who was wounded by law officers -- is hospitalized in San Antonio.
President Barack Obama, in his weekly radio and Internet address today, sought to reassure a nation shaken by the mass shooting on an Army post in Texas.
Obama said the training designed to keep U.S. forces safe abroad prevented further deaths and ended Thursday's rampage at Fort Hood.
Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, last night visited wounded soldiers and their families. The Bushes made their private visit to Fort Hood's Darnall Army Medical Center.
A spokesman says the couple thanked Fort Hood's military leaders and hospital staff for the "amazing care they are providing."
The Bushes live in Dallas, plus have a ranch at Crawford, north of the post.
Hundreds of mourners gathered last night at Fort Hood for a candlelight vigil for the victims.
A grief counseling center has been set up at the Killeen Community Center.
Fort Hood has announced ways for the public to donate to assist victims and their families.
