Oregon has closed a boarding school for troubled teens after allegedly finding a pattern of child abuse and neglect of students.
Regulators say the first priority is to ensure the safety of the students at Mount Bachelor Academy outside Prineville, Ore.
The Oregon Department of Human Services says investigations revealed serious abuse and violations of licensing rules since 2007.
Most problems came from a mandatory treatment program called Lifesteps. At least two students were forced to act out sexual roles in front of staff and other children.
Mount Bachelor Academy cooperated in the investigation and said it made changes based on limited information it received from the agency.
Virginia Stauffer of Dallas, who had an 18-year-old son at the school, told The Bulletin newspaper in Bend, Ore., that she did not know where she would send him.
