Associated Press - November 4, 2009 5:55 PM ET

PHOENIX (AP) - A northern Arizona resident has been sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison for a fatal crash on the Navajo Nation.

Prosecutors say 42-year-old Amos John Jr., of Lake Many Farms, was given a 46-month prison term Tuesday.

He pleaded guilty in August to a charge of involuntary manslaughter in connection with Oct. 13, 2008, accident north of Chinle.

Authorities say John admitted he was intoxicated when he drove his girlfriend's car from a dirt road onto U.S. Route 191 and collided with a truck.

A man who was a passenger in the truck was ejected from the vehicle and later pronounced dead at a Chinle-area hospital.
