Ark. man acquitted of threatening Texas judge

Associated Press - October 28, 2009 11:55 AM ET

TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) - An Arkansas man has been found not guilty on federal charges of threatening a Texas federal judge.

A juror identified only as No. 12 said there wasn't enough evidence to convict 56-year-old Thomas Dunn.

Authorities began investigating Dunn after Allen and Sherri Winchell of New Boston, Texas, told the FBI that Dunn threatened to have U.S. District Judge David Folsom "meet Jesus." Folsom had dismissed a $33.5 million lawsuit Dunn filed against jail officials in Bowie County, Texas.

Dunn remains in custody. He is being transferred to Sevier County, Ark., where he's wanted for a parole violation and has a pending driving while intoxicated charge against him in Bowie County.
