ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Two separate fatal crashes caused traffic delays in the mountains east of Albuquerque on Friday.
One man died after a three-vehicle crash on Highway 14. A sheriff's spokeswoman says a helicopter was dispatched to airlift the victim but he died at the scene before it arrived. The man's name has not been released.
One child has been hospitalized with what appears to be non-life threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, westbound lanes of Interstate 40 were restricted to one lane at the Carnuel exit after a fatal rollover involving a tractor-trailer. Eastbound lanes were unaffected.
Sheriff's officers say the semi driver veered off the road and into a mountain. Rescue crews were unable to get into the cab of the truck but have been able to get close enough to confirm the driver is dead.
