WASHINGTON, D.C. -- El Paso will get $143,000 for a flood control project under an appropriations bill passed by the Senate on Thursday, U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) announced. The appropriations bill will now be reconciled with the House version of the bill.
El Paso County will use the funding to complete a feasibility study for the Sparks Arroyo flood control project.
"The Sparks Arroyo feasibility study and flood control project will help the El Paso area prepare for and reduce the damaged caused by future flooding. It will also give residents and business owners peace of mind knowing local floods won't mean temporary or permanent relocation," Hutchison said in a news release.
