VADO, N.M. -- The Dona Ana County District Attorney's Office has decided not to prosecute a case against a woman who allegedly tried to run over her boyfriend, the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office said.

About 7:15 p.m. Friday, Dona Ana County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call from a man on Crazy Horse Road in Vado after he reported that his girlfriend deliberately tried to run him over as he was trying to stop her from going to Jaguar's nightclub in El Paso.

The 26-year-old victim said his 20-year-old girlfriend was a former dancer at the nightclub and wanted to go the nightclub to "hang out," Dona Ana County Sheriff's officials said.

When the victim tried to stop his girlfriend from driving away, she allegedly accelerated and struck the victim with the left front corner bumper of the vehicle, which caused him to roll onto the hood of the vehicle.

He then tried to get into the vehicle, and his girlfriend allegedly moved the car forward, dragging him about five feet.

The victim said he went back into the house, and his girlfriend went into the house to check on him and realized he was not seriously injured. She drove away from the house with the couple's two-month-old child strapped into the back seat. The victim said the child was in the car during the entire incident, sheriff's officials said.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Memorial Medical Center and released later in the evening.

According to the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office, the victim is a resident of Canutillo and his girlfriend lives in Northeast El Paso. The victim was house sitting in Vado at the time of the incident.

The District Attorney's Office declined to accept the case for prosecution due to insufficient evidence to prove intent on the part of the driver of the vehicle, sheriff's officials said.

Child Protective Services is conducting a separate investigation regarding the couple's two-month-old child. The victim admitted to investigators that he and his girlfriend are currently under investigation by Child Protective Services in El Paso for past incidents involving him, his girlfriend and their child, Dona Ana County Sheriff's officials said.
