Mexico is struggling to recover from the economic ills caused by the swine flu outbreak. The tourism industry is especially hard hit as many visitors stay away.

Now resorts are trying to entice tourists with bargain prices and some even promise a flu-free vacation.

Many travel agents say you won't find a better bargain vacation this summer than Mexico. "To Cancun for $499 for 7 nights including air and hotel, which is very good," said travel agent Ezequiel Barraza.

That is the price for a vacation package from El Paso. There are similar deals for many U.S. cities.

Even if you build your own trip, you will save money. Airlines have slashed Mexico fares by up to half. Some hotels on Mexico's Caribbean coast have cut rates by 70 percent.

Others are offering perks like kids stay free and eat free, discounts at restaurants and two-for-one spa treatments.

For those who are afraid to catch a flight because they might catch the flu, the Mexican airline Volaris is promoting its cabin filtration system, which according to the company renews the air every two to three minutes.

Plus the airline is offering a free medical consultation to any passenger who feels sick later.

And then there is the flu-free guarantee from AM Resorts. Any guest who contracts the H1N1 virus while staying at the company's hotels in Mexico gets their next three vacations free.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises Americans to avoid travel to Mexico that is not essential, at least for now.
